Old friend visiting: Derek Chitwood, postdoc in Deshusses' lab in around 2000 made a quick stop at Duke at the occasion of UNC's Conference on Water and Health. Derek now heads an NGO in Southwest China. They make simple clay/ceramic filters that provides safe drinking water. Marc and Derek are holding a simple heater/heat exchange built in Kenya (see Aaron's project below)

Aaron Forbis-Stokes (PhD student in Deshusses lab) is spending the summer in Eldoret Kenya to deploy our anaerobic digester - biogas powered heat/heat recovery pasteurization system for safe sanitation system in the field.
